Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) says it has carried out new anti-helicopter military drills as regional tensions continue to rise. The exercises reportedly focused on defending against low-flying aircraft and special operations missions that could involve enemy helicopters.
During the drills, first-person view (FPV) drones were seen attacking mock-up helicopters designed to resemble U.S. Special Forces Black Hawk aircraft. The use of FPV drones highlights Iran’s growing focus on low-cost unmanned weapons and modern battlefield tactics.
Military analysts say the exercise demonstrates how drones are increasingly being used in combat scenarios against expensive military equipment. FPV drones, which are controlled remotely with live video feeds, have become widely used in recent conflicts because of their speed, precision, and relatively low cost.
The IRGC has not provided details on where the drills took place or how long they lasted. However, the exercise is likely to draw attention from the United States and its allies, especially amid ongoing security concerns in the Middle East and the strategic importance of the Gulf region.
