The Kano State Fire Service wishes to inform the public of a tragic incident that occurred on Tuesday, 11 August 2026, at Kofar Gabas in Danbatta Local Government Area.
Kano State Fire Service Public Relations Officer, ACFO Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, disclosed that at about 15:28 hours, the agency received a distress call from Aminu Lawan, who informed the Fire Service office in Danbatta that his son had fallen into a pond.
Upon receiving the report, Fire Service personnel from the Danbatta fire station immediately mobilised to the scene. On arrival, they found an approximately 18-year-old man identified as Abdullahi Aminu, who had fallen into the pond.
Our men from Danbatta were successfully recovered the victim from the pond in an unconscious state. Unfortunately, he was later confirmed dead.
The victim was subsequently handed over to the Secretary to the District Head of Danbatta, Alhaji Baba Ado Sarkin Bai, for further necessary action.
The Kano State Fire Service sympathises with the family of the deceased and urges members of the public to exercise extreme caution around ponds, waterways and other bodies of water, particularly during this period.
