Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed that a U.S. fast boat attempted to cross the strategically important Strait of Hormuz before being quickly detected and directly targeted by Iranian forces. According to Iranian military sources, the vessel was identified immediately after entering the sensitive waterway.
The IRGC said its naval forces remain on high alert in the Gulf region amid growing tensions between Tehran and Washington. Iranian officials warned that any foreign military movement near what they describe as their operational zone would face a rapid response. The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most critical oil shipping routes.
In recent weeks, Iran has expanded its claimed security zone around the Strait of Hormuz and repeatedly stressed that all military and commercial vessels must follow Iranian maritime regulations. Iranian commanders have also stated that the Revolutionary Guard maintains “full control” over the area.
There has been no immediate confirmation from the United States regarding the reported encounter. However, tensions in the Gulf have continued to rise following several naval incidents involving Iranian fast boats and U.S. forces, increasing concerns about the risk of a wider confrontation in the region.
