Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State has called on political office holders in Zamfara state and northern region to joined hands irrespective of their political difference to fight insecurity.
The Governor made the call during a consultation meeting in Zamfara with the People Democratic Party delegates held in Gusau the state capital.
Tambuwal said the security situation in northern part of the country especially Zamfara meeds collective efforts of all and sundry in bringing lasting peace to the region rather than politicising it.
He advocate for stakeholders meeting to discuss the challenging issues affecting the the region and the country at large with a view to map out lasting solutions to them
The Governor who is aspiring for PDP Presidential ticket said he wonder how politicians could have time for politics when killing in the state had become the order of the day.
According to him, the high level of insecurity need to be faced with all sense of seriousness. He expressed his sympathy over the activities of bandits resulting to the killings of several innocent citizens.
Earlier, the team leader and the Former Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa said it is time to kick start preparations for the 2023 general elections.
He recalled that in 2019 out the seven contestants of the PDP Presidential aspirant from the Northwest Tambawal was the second in votes.
Bafarawa urged people of the state to embark on massive prayers to the leaders in order to have the courage and wisdom to face the security challenges bedeviling the country.
In his remarks, Zamfara State Deputy Governor, Mahdi Ali-Gusau urged delegates to remain steadfast for the success of the party in the state and country at large.
He appealed to the Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambawal to carry everyone along if eventually won the Presidential election in 2023.
