The Kano State Government has commissioned the newly expanded Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) to strengthen disease control and improve public health emergency response across the state.
The commissioning was carried out on Friday by the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, on behalf of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
Dr. Yusuf said the original EOC was established in 2013 during the peak of the polio outbreak and played a key role in coordinating efforts that helped Kano achieve polio-free status.
He explained that the expansion became necessary due to increasing health activities and the growing presence of development partners in Kano’s health sector.
The commissioner also thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, the National EOC, and development partners for their continued support toward improving healthcare services in the state.
