Huawei Nigeria has announced it spent $700m on procurement in Nigeria between 2015 and 2020.
The Director, Huawei Enterprise Partner Development Department, Mr Gary Li, disclosed this during a Huawei and Coscharis Technologies event, themed ‘Transforming the ISP in the Digital Era.’
According to him, the firm has been in the nation for 2022 years and invested over $100m as total investment and generated over $120m in taxes over the time period. He added that the firm is one of the biggest ICT solutions suppliers to the nation’s telecom market.
He said, “We’ve been in the Nigerian market for over 22 years. We have two headquarters; one is in Abuja while the other one is in Lagos.
“Abuja mainly focuses on the enterprise government businesses, while Lagos focuses on the private sector. We have invested more than $100m, our procurement in the market from 2015 to 2020 is about $700m, and our tax generated from 2015 to 2020 is more than $120m. We do not only do business in Nigeria, but we also contribute to development in the country.”
He stated that the firm planned to equip 60,000 talents with ICT skills between 2021 and 2023, adding that since the firm began its ICT programmes in 2015, it has partnered with more than 150 universities.
