Russia is reportedly expanding its large-scale drone production facilities as military cooperation between Moscow and Tehran continues to grow. Reports indicate that Russia has increased production of Iranian-designed drones, especially the Shahed-type attack drones widely used in the war in Ukraine. Satellite images and intelligence assessments suggest that major expansion work is ongoing at drone factories in Russia’s Tatarstan region.
According to recent reports, Russia has also started sending drone parts and upgraded drone technology back to Iran. Officials quoted in international media said the transfers may include improved versions of drones that were originally supplied to Russia by Tehran earlier in the Ukraine conflict.
The growing military partnership between the two countries has raised concern among Western governments. Analysts say Russia and Iran are now sharing technology, production methods, and battlefield experience gained from modern drone warfare. Experts believe the cooperation could strengthen both countries’ military capabilities and increase the use of drones in conflicts across different regions.
International observers also warn that expanding drone production could further intensify global security tensions.
