A total of 80,985 children aged 9 to 12 months in Tarauni Local Government Area have benefited from the distribution of Azithromycin under the SARMAAN Project, an initiative aimed at improving child health, reducing childhood mortality, and protecting children from life-threatening diseases.
The primary health coordinator in Tarauni local government Alhaji Muktar Datti Gwarzo, stated that the exercise was successfully conducted across health facilities throughout the local government area. He explained that all eligible children received the medication in accordance with established public health guidelines and standards.
Alhaji Muktar Datti Gwarzo commended the people of Tarauni, particularly parents, community leaders, and other stakeholders, for their outstanding cooperation, which contributed significantly to the success of the programme. He also encouraged parents to continue taking their children to health facilities for routine immunization and other essential child healthcare services.
Speaking on the programme, the Chairman of Tarauni Local Government, Alhaji Ahmed Ibrahim Muhammad Sekure, expressed satisfaction with the continued support provided by health authorities and development partners in strengthening healthcare delivery within the local government. He described the initiative as a vital step toward improving the health and well-being of children in the area.
While launching the programme at Allu Ward, the Health Education Officer of Tarauni Local Government, Musa Abubakar Ali reaffirmed the commitment of the programme’s partners to sustaining interventions that promote community health and ensure a healthier future for the people of Tarauni.
