Kano State Government Vigorously Working to Reduce Incidents of Land Disputes …….. Commissioner Ministry of Land, Alhaji Abduljabbar Umar Garko.
The Ministry of Land in Kano State, under the leadership of Commissioner Alhaji Abduljabbar Umar Garko, is committed to significantly reducing cases of land disputes in the state.
In an interview with journalists at his office, Commissioner Garko highlighted the substantial efforts being made to address issues hindering effective land administration.
Since assuming office, Commissioner Garko has diligently worked to identify and rectify challenges within the Ministry of Land and Physical Planning that have impeded smooth land management in the state. He emphasized the state government’s dedication to enhancing land administration processes and outlined various innovative measures introduced by the present administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
Recognizing the multifaceted nature of land disputes encompassing legal, socio-cultural, spiritual, physical, and economic dimensions, the Commissioner stressed the seriousness with which the Kano State government is approaching land-related conflicts and litigations. Special attention is being given to resolving disputes arising from survey errors which have contributed to overlapping plot issues and land litigations.
Commissioner Garko underscored the significance of Geographic Information System (GIS) as a pivotal tool in addressing land challenges. Describing GIS as a computer-based system that centralizes land records and ensures secure management, he highlighted its role in preventing theft, fraud, revenue leakages, and expediting payment processing.
Furthermore, Commissioner Garko commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his unwavering commitment to mitigating land disputes and fostering development in the state. He lauded Governor Yusuf as a proactive leader dedicated to implementing impactful projects for the betterment of Kano State.
The Ministry of Land remains resolute in its mission to streamline land administration processes, reduce disputes, and promote a conducive environment for sustainable development in Kano State.
