The Legislative Assembly of Kano state has approved the dissolution of all the kingdoms of the state after repealing the new law that created new kingdoms in 2019.
This means that the old law that established the Emirate of Kano has been used again.
The council took the decision in its session on Thursday.
The new decision taken by the council shows that the five state chiefs of Kano, Bichi, Karaye, Gaya, and Rano have all lost their seats.
If Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf signs the new law, this will allow him to appoint a new emir in the Emirate of Kano.
The parliamentarians also agreed to create new second-class princes.
