The latest Global Stadium Database rankings for 2026 show that the United States remains the world leader in billion-dollar sports stadiums, with more than 32 venues valued at over $1 billion. Massive investments in professional sports infrastructure, particularly for American football, baseball, and multi-purpose entertainment complexes, continue to drive the country’s dominance.
China ranks second with more than 14 billion-dollar stadiums, reflecting its long-term commitment to developing world-class sporting facilities. Qatar follows in third place with over nine such venues, many of which were built or upgraded ahead of major international sporting events, including the FIFA World Cup.
The United Kingdom holds fourth place with more than seven billion-dollar stadiums, while Japan ranks fifth with six. Australia and Saudi Arabia share sixth place with five stadiums each, highlighting growing investments in sports infrastructure and the increasing role of sports in national development strategies.
Germany and France each have four billion-dollar stadiums, while India rounds out the top ten with three. As countries continue to compete for major sporting events and expand their entertainment sectors, investment in large-scale stadium projects remains a key indicator of sporting ambition and economic confidence.
