Iranian state media reported Friday that a draft memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States includes a U.S. commitment to lift oil sanctions and an Iranian commitment to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
According to the report, the proposed 14-point document outlines a framework for future negotiations between the two countries. The agreement is said to address key economic and maritime issues that have strained relations in recent years.
The Mehr News Agency reported that final negotiations would not begin until several conditions are met, including the release of half of Iran’s frozen assets, the suspension of U.S. oil sanctions on Iran, and the lifting of what Tehran describes as a naval blockade.
The reported draft agreement has not been officially confirmed by U.S. authorities. If implemented, the measures could mark a significant step toward easing tensions and restoring stability in global energy markets.
