Two Fire Incidents Recorded in Kano as Fire Service Prevent Major Damage

On Monday, 10 August 2026, two separate fire incidents were recorded in Dawakin Tofa and Kumbotso Local Government Areas of Kano State.

FIRST INCIDENT – ACCESS BANK, DAWANAU

At about 13:17 hours, the Emergency Response Unit (Control Room) received a distress call from Mr. Michael, reporting a fire outbreak at Access Bank, Dawanau, Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area.

Kano state fire service Public Relations Officer ACFO Saminu Yusif Abdullahi said Men from the Dawanau Fire Station immediately responded and rushed to the scene. Upon arrival, they found a building of one floor of about 100 x 80 feet, being used as an Access Bank branch.

The fire engulfed one Mikano generator well alight and one electrical transformer slightly alight.

However, the responding firefighters successfully contained the fire and prevented it from spreading to other parts of the bank building.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

SECOND INCIDENT – SABUWAR GANDU SHEKA GARI

The second incident occurred at about 18:19 hours, when the Emergency Call Centre (Control Room) received a distress call from Ahmad Mainama, reporting a fire outbreak at Sabuwar Gandu, Sheka Gari, Kumbotso Local Government Area.

Our Men from Sharada Industrial Area Fire Station immediately proceeded to the scene. Upon arrival, they found a ground-floor residential building of about 40 x 30 feet.

The fire affected two bedrooms, one parlour, and one kitchen well alight.

Our Men were successfully brought the situation under control using one jet from Commando 3, Sharada Fire Truck, supported by two additional jets from nearby factories.

The cause of the fire is also under investigation.

The Director of the Agency, Alh. Sani Anas, has appealed to members of the public to remain vigilant and take proactive measures to reduce the incidence.

He further urged residents to equip their homes with functional fire extinguishers and ensure that appropriate fire-safety measures are observed.
