Prince Charles delivers the Queen’s Speech in the state opening of Parliament

Prince Charles delivers the Queen’s Speech during the state opening of Parliament at the House of Lords in London

Charles III, the new UK monarch, will deliver a televised address to the nation at 6 p.m. on Friday — his first public remarks since the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.

The King’s message to Britain and the Commonwealth was already recorded in the Blue Drawing Room at Buckingham Palace, his office said in a statement. An official photograph will be released to accompany the address.
