Iran’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Amir-Saeid Iravani, has responded to U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement of an extension to the ceasefire, stating that Tehran will not enter into any negotiations with the United States unless the naval blockade is lifted. He emphasized that the move by Washington undermines the ceasefire agreement and creates obstacles to meaningful progress toward peace talks.
Iravani further stressed that Iran remains open to dialogue, but only under fair conditions free from pressure or coercion. He accused the United States of acting in bad faith by maintaining the naval blockade, arguing that such actions contradict the spirit of diplomacy and hinder efforts to reach a lasting resolution.
Meanwhile, President Trump said the extension of the ceasefire was intended to give Iran more time to present a unified negotiation framework. However, he maintained that U.S. forces would continue enforcing the naval blockade. Analysts warn that the hardline positions from both sides could stall diplomatic efforts and risk escalating tensions if no compromise is reached soon.
