On Thursday, 24th July, 2025, state fire service under the leadership of the Director, Alh. Sani Anas, received an emergency call at about 18:50 hrs from Zakariya Adamu who reported that, three people had fallen into an old, empty well that was being used for dumping refused at Unguwar Malamin Kurunsumau in Kura Local Government Area, where a four-year-old boy named Abubakar Ahmad fell into the old well.
The second Abubakar Muhd, about 22 years old, went in to rescue the four-year-old boy, and he was trapped. Thereafter Jibrin Muhd, about 30 years, went in to rescue them and he was also trapped.
After the arrival of the rescue team from the service Headquarter they were able to rescue them, but two of them were rescued unconscious, including Abubakar of 4 years who was accidentally fall into a well and Jibril of 30 years who was the last to enter, but both of them were confirmed dead, except Abubakar of 22 years old, who was rescued alive by our men.
Victims were conveyed to Kura LGA Specialist Hospital for medical attention and handed over to a police constable Umar Aminu attached to the Kura Police Division.
