A committee investigating a terrorist attack on the U.S. House of Representatives in 2021 has accused Donald Trump of plotting a coup as a result of separatists.
Based on the results of the first year-long investigation, the special committee is trying to find a solution to former President Trump’s efforts to confuse the results of the country’s 2020 election won by Joe Biden.
Shortly before that, Democratic caucus chairman Bennie Thompson accused Trump of masterminding the plot.
The panel used evidence provided by several senior Trump trustees, including former Attorney General Bill Barr and his chief of staff Jared Kushner.
This past Thursday’s session, and the next five in the coming weeks, will focus on Trump’s role in trying to stay in office by narrowing the vote by millions.
After hearing the report, Trump again lashed out at the allegations, accusing the commission of bias.
Capitol Police Officer Caroline Edwards, who was at the scene of the first wall breach, described her injuries in clashes with rioters.
The commission did not say what action it planned to take after the hearing, but a final report is expected in the near future.
