Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi has declared that his government’s anti-corruption campaign will continue without interruption, insisting that efforts to combat graft remain a top national priority.
In an interview with Al Arabiya, al-Zaidi said there have been no internal or external demands for the release of individuals arrested as part of the ongoing anti-corruption drive. He stressed that no one is above the law when it comes to protecting public funds and urged those accused of corruption to return any money they had illegally obtained.
The Prime Minister also reaffirmed his government’s commitment to bringing all weapons under state control. He said armed factions would be expected to surrender their weapons once the agreed deadline expires, emphasizing the state’s authority over security matters.
On foreign affairs, al-Zaidi described Washington’s decision to resume dollar transfers to Iraq as a goodwill gesture. He added that Iraq would not align itself with any geopolitical bloc, reaffirming Baghdad’s commitment to maintaining balanced relations and promoting dialogue between the United States and Iran.
